Girls Inc.® Memphis Trip
On Friday, July 24 nine participants from the Girls Inc.® program and 4 staff went on a field trip to Memphis, Tennessee. They were students from 3 different Metro middle schools. This field trip was an educational opportunity to provide youth with several new experiences. Theme for the weekend: “You can kill the dreamer, but you can’t kill the dream.”
On Friday night, the Girls went to see "Stomp” which was performed at the Orpheum Theatre. On Saturday, they went to The National Civil Rights Museum where they toured for 3 hours followed by a 2 hour discussion on Racial Justice. Saturday morning the girls each got a manicure and that night they dressed up and went to dinner at Carrabba’s Restaurant. Below are some of the questions that were used in the Racial Justice discussion.
