Social Justice | Advocacy
As the oldest and largest multi-racial women’s organization in the world, YWCA has taken a leadership role in civil and human rights issues for more than a century. YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is actively engaged in advocacy that reduces violence against women and girls and promotes gender equity and racial and social justice.
Our successful efforts to close loopholes and update Tennessee state laws involving harassment offenses (in 2016) and the 12-hour hold (in 2015) have improved safety for domestic violence victims and their families.
