No Hate No Fear – 2019 Stand Against Racism Luncheon Series & Public Rally Announced

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - Ten years after the failed “English Only” referendum, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is hosting a Lunch & Learn series on racism and immigration and the ways they intersect in our community. The series will conclude with the annual Stand Against Racism public rally in Downtown Nashville on April 25. The controversial referendum would have required all government business to be performed only in English.YWCA knows that immigrant justice is racial justice, and xenophobia, bigotry, and racism continue to impact the lives and safety of our communities. Stand Against Racism is a movement that seeks to build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities. Stand Against Racism is a signature campaign of YWCA USA and is part of the larger national strategy to fulfill our mission of eliminating racism.For 120 years, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee has helped women, girls and families in Nashville and Middle Tennessee build safer, more self-sufficient lives.
