Community Comes Together at YWCA’s First-Ever Wellness & Resource Fair

NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 5, 2025) — On a stormy April Saturday—amid tornado warnings and flash flooding—something beautiful happened at YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee.

In just a two-hour window of calm weather, more than 70 community members gathered at our Green Hills offices for our first-ever Community Wellness & Resource Fair. Despite the forecast, the turnout was incredible, with families, neighbors, and local leaders coming together to focus on health, connection, and support.

This event was inspired by our Stand Against Injustice Community Rally and Campaign of Healing Through Unity, held in the fall of 2024. That powerful moment sparked a deeper commitment to ongoing engagement and healing-centered work within our community—and the Wellness & Resource Fair was born from that promise.

Thanks to generous support from the Harnisch Foundation, and in partnership with the Youth Advocacy Summit taking place next door at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (sponsored by Nashville Soccer Club and the Harnisch Foundation), this event marked an important milestone in our mission to meet people where they are with resources, care, and community.

We were honored to welcome 15 dedicated community partners offering valuable services—from free health screenings and public safety tools to creative outlets like face painting, button making, and crown decorating. The joy was palpable.

“My kids had a blast decorating crowns and getting their faces painted—and I got a quick blood pressure check while they played. It was fun and helpful. We left with a bag full of resources and smiles all around.”

Participants enjoyed a range of services and takeaways:

  • Free gun locks, health materials, and educational flyers

  • Giveaways, including a $50 gift card, a brand-new bike courtesy of Wellpoint, and tickets to the Nashville Zoo

  • Health screenings and family-friendly activities that engaged all ages

We are deeply grateful to our community partners for showing up in full force, even in uncertain weather: Nashville Community Review Board, Vanderbilt University Medical School, Nashville Children’s Theatre, Ancora TN, Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors, Office of Family Safety, Martha O’Bryan Center, You Have the Power, Wellpoint, Nashville Public Library, Black Mental Health Village, Nashville General Hospital, Be SMART, and others.

As always, our mission to eliminate racism and empower women extends far beyond our doors. It lives in these moments of connection—rain or shine—where community comes together to uplift and protect one another.
